These homemade Chocolate Chip Clif Bars are easy to make. They do not contain any caster sugar, the sweetness comes from the dates and a little bit of maple syrup. They are very energy-dense and therefore the perfect pre-workout snack.

Ingredients
200 g dates (unpitted)
35 g rice cereals
100 g porridge oats
60 g blanched almond butter
3-4 tbsp maple syrup
35 g chocolate chips
1 pinch salt
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Method
1. Put the unpitted dates into a food processor and blend until it is a smooth mixture.
2. Transfer the date paste into a large bowl and stir in the almond butter, rice cereals, oats, salt, vanilla extract, and maple syrup.
3. Last, stir in the chocolate chips. If you mix the 'dough' with your hands, do not knead too long to prevent the chocolate chips from melting.
4. Lay a small plastic box out with plastic wrap, and fill in 55 g of the 'dough'. Press and flip on baking paper. Cool in the fridge for 1-2 hours.
