Hummus with Roasted Sesame Topping

This super creamy hummus is the perfect snack combined with raw vegetable sticks or with salty crackers. It is a good source of fibre and plant-based protein due to its high chickpea content. Moreover, you can experiment with different flavours and toppings.

Portions: 1 small bowl

 

Ingredients


1 tin chickpeas

3 tbsp tahini

2 tbsp olive oil

2 tbsp cold water

1/2 garlic clove

1/2 lemon (juice)

1/2 tsp cumin

1/2 tsp ground coriander

salt


Sesame topping:

1-2 tbsp sesame seeds

1/2-1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp all spice

1/2 tsp cumin

 

Method


1. Peel the chickpeas. Do not skip this step, it can take a little bit more time, but it makes a crucial difference to the creaminess of the hummus.


2. Put the chickpeas, tahini, water, olive oil, garlic, lemon juice and spices into a food processor. Blend until the hummus is creamy.


3. For the topping, roast the spices and sesame seeds in a pan until the sesame seeds are lightly golden brown.


4. Top the hummus with the roasted sesame.
